Charles Hardin Holley, known professionally as Buddy Holly, was born on 9/7/36 in Lubbock

He was an singer-songwriter & a pioneer of rock n roll. Although his success lasted only 1 1/2 yrs before his death in an plane crash on 2/3/59, Holly is described as "the single most influential creative force in early rock and roll." His works inspired the Beatles, Elvis Costello, the Rolling Stones, and Bob Dylan, and exerted a profound influence on popular music.
